5 hot tips to get organised this weekend

We all know that feeling - you don't have enough time! Let’s set the scene.
It is the weekend, the weather is meant to be nice, and there are so many nice things to do with family and friends. You’ve had a hard week at work, you haven’t even done your washing, the kids have football, ballet, dance class, and there’s a hellish 6yr olds party to attend in a sweaty leisure centre!!
You just don’t have time to think about anything other than keeping your head above water. I get it, and that is why I have 5 top tips for getting your shit together this weekend.
1) Write a list – This sounds so simple, yet is so impactful. Use your phone, a voice memo, or whatever it is that works for you. Get it out of your head and put it down. We all spend so much time on our phones using Facebook, Instagram, and other apps that surely we can find time to get our to do list down and out of our heads, in a form that works for you. (if you are stuck here, see my blog post about your to do list)
2) Be realistic – Rome wasn’t built in a day and you aren’t going magically get to Sunday night and have everything done. When you are getting everything out of your head, I would suggest that you prioritise. Don’t over think, but number these things in order of priority so that you know what needs to get done and what can wait until next week, or even next weekend. By doing this you are making sure that your brain is free from the ‘to do’ and you also have a sense of when things need to be done by. Often the things we know we need to do, can wait and other things can’t.
3) Put some deadlines in – as I said above, it helps making some items feel less urgent, and also highlights what needs to be done now.
For example, Item 1. It is Saturday morning, it’s Billy Joe’s 6th birthday party tomorrow and you don’t have a present for him.
This needs to be top of the list.
Booking a doctor’s appointment - They are rarely open on Saturdays for appointments (although some allow online booking), so this can therefore be pushed further down the list when you have a spare 5 minutes.
4) Bitesize chunks – Remember you don’t need to do everything in one day, and by planning your todo list with the approach outlined in the the two above points, you should feel like you’re achieving what you need to without feeling overwhelmed.
5) Make it fun – No one ever has enough time, but just because this isn’t a fun thing to do doesn’t mean you can’t make it fun or enjoyable. Grab a glass of wine tonight, or get a fun new notebook on the way home, play your fav song on repeat. Getting your shit together doesn’t all have to be doom and gloom!
TOP TIP: Delegation is key with all of this stuff. Share the load with your partner, housemates, children. Or your team! Coming up next week will be some top tips on how to delegate!
