New year, new me - or just the same old Alys?

alyspeart

It is now officially a new decade and everywhere you turn there is a new year, new you advert, blog or a new programme to sign up to. And whilst I am all about new beginnings, I am also a big fan of believing in what you already have, being kind to your mind, body and soul and being grateful for what we have already. So I say screw it, to all the new year, new me stuff!

The wonderful Matt Haig posted this on his Twitter on New years day and I think it sums up how I feel perfectly.

As I look towards 2020, it is a huge year for me. I am having a baby and I am going to be self employed! Isn’t that enough of a change for me to be dealing with? I don’t think I really need to be a better human or go on a crazy diet or sign up to a new programme. What I really need, is to be grateful for what I have! And that is so much, I have a roof over my head, a wonderful husband and supportive family, a great group of friends. And a job and lifestyle I love and one that I can see myself having for a long time.

What I am planning on doing in 2020 and beyond is be kind to myself, make time for self- care, make time for myself, make time for my husband and generally look after myself and my well being. This time a year ago, I was in a terrible place mentally and physically. I was in a job that on the outside looked amazing but was soul destroying. I know 2 days in already feel like I am smashing this year, and that isn’t because I have achieved everything I ever wanted in 2 days, it is because I am looking back and seeing where I have come from, and looking forward to seeing where I will be in a year. And that excites me, that is what I am aiming for.

Don’t get me wrong, I am still setting goals for myself and my business this year and still wanting to evolve, like Matt says, but not looking to change, because I believe I am already pretty assume as I am! (Caveat on this, this is something I struggle with daily so even saying it out loud, on this blog is a change for me!)

A few things to expect from me this year:

- More downloads to help you get on top of you to do lists

- Hints and tips to getting your life admin in order

- A how to guide on event management

- How to be kind to yourself and make it part of your everyday

And so much more!

I recently listened to a podcast on mindset*and he was talking about success comes from making a series of small changes, not big huge ones. And I think that is so important, so this year I will be making a lot of small changes, throughout the year and January’s change, to be kind to myself!

So here is to 2020, to being the same old wonderful Helpful Alys!
