The what, the how and the why. Who is Helpful Alys and what does she do?

My Name is Alys, I am the founder and Chief Helper at Helpful Alys. For the past 12 years I have been working as a Global Event Manager, travelling all over the world. Whilst that job was amazing; who doesn’t love eating dinner at the best of the best all over the world, I was getting tired of all the travel.

I have worked for a range of different companies, charities, membership organisations and corporates, all offering me a range of different experiences and working with a range of different people, and levels. As I was getting more and more frustrated with the time spent away from home, I started to look at the different areas of my role and what I really loved about it. What I soon realised was that I loved working with the senior leaders, and making their day that bit easier. From going to get some new lenses for one, to buying new tights for another, or even just getting someone a plug converter, I really get a buzz from helping people.

With this in mind, I started talking to a number of different people and suddenly realised that there was this epidemic of everyone feeling like they never had enough time on their hands. Technology today means that we no longer stop working; whilst we used to write BRB on MSN messenger, we no longer need to do that because we never leave. We never leave the emails, or social media. There is always work to do and there is always a meme to laugh at to distract us from doing the mundane day to day tasks.

I suddenly realised that there was a perfect symmetry between my love of helping others and people feeling like there wasn't enough time in the day, and that is when Helpful Alys was started. Did you know that we all suffer from burnout at one point in our lives? More often than not we get overwhelmed with the amount of things on our to do list. Today I read a very interesting article in The Guardian about how we all feel bombarded with our to do lists. It even features one of my clients.

"According to one 2018 survey of 2,000 Brits, the average adult carries out 109 life admin tasks a year, from sorting out car insurance to paying council tax; about half the respondents admitted they struggled to keep up with household paperwork. Life admin might be at once the most boring and overwhelming anxiety of our age: look closely, and we are procrastinating and blind panicking our way into an organisational crisis."

This is exactly why I set up Helpful Alys because we all have those days where it gets too much. I am here to help with that, and with my packages starting from 2hrs a month, I can help you get on top of those things!

What do I work on? I hear you ask. Well it literally is anything, anything that you need help on. What is on our to do list causes us all varying different levels of anxiety and overwhelm. I work with my clients to give them back the time they need to do the things that they really love.

To give you a better idea of the things that I can help with, below is a short list of some of the things that I am currently working on for some of my clients:

· Paying utility bills

· Arranging removal teams

· Sorting children’s parties

· Researching the perfect presents

· Researching children summer activities

· Arranging cleaners and other domestic help

· Managing appointments

· Booking date nights

· Booking holidays

The list really is endless and the time you pay me is the time you get back to do the things you love. In some recent research done in Australia, 22% of people spend more than 10 hours a week doing personal errands. If you pay me 2 hours of my time, you can gain back those 10 hours a week, it is almost too good to be true!

Why not get in touch today and try out my services, I offer 30 minutes free to all new clients.
